I went to the St. Johns bridge in north Portland for sunrise. I took my shots and waited for the sun to come up. I noticed the sun wasn't going to come up where I wanted it too, so I decided to leave. I went as far as putting my camera in my bag. I took one more look and decided there was still a shot there. I'm glad I did. I got some decent pics and headed to my car. On my way to my car a friend of mine who was photographing the bridge from a different location yelled out to me and said "Did you see the daredevils at the top of the bridge towers?" I had no clue they were there. I got back to my car and started scrolling through my pictures and sure enough there they were two crazy 17 year old boys at the top of the bridge.

How I created the Daredevils image
This image was created by blending three images together. All the shots were taken on a Canon 6D with a Canon 24-105mm lens at 58mm, ISO 100, 1/8 to 1/60 SEC. Remember I didn’t even know the boys were up on the bridge towers. When creating a picture with a sunstar it usually takes two or more images blended together so the final picture looks right, doesn’t have lens flair, the land and other features are not too dark or the sky too bright. First thing I did was photograph the bridge right before the sun popped out on the bridge, with my camera adjusted so the bridge, road and any other foreground details wouldn’t be completely black. I didn’t want the foreground too bright because it wouldn’t look right to our eyes. The image below has been adjusted to match as close as possible. If you look close, you can see that the bridge is dark, but not black. There is no lens flair in the image. You can also see the boys at the top of the second tower. This image is good on its own, but I wanted a sunstar. In this image the sunstar, airplane and boys are all there, but not in perfect position. It is a good image on its own, but not great. The bridge and foreground are too dark and the guardrail on the left is too bright. In this image the boys a in perfect position. They are both leaning out, but the bridge and foreground are too dark. Also the guardrail on the left is a little too bright, there is no sunstar and no airplane. Final image again with the boys in the perfect position, bridge and foreground not to dark, the airplane and sunstar in the image. I also took out the cars that was in the foreground of some images.
